Monitoring	Pollution Reduction	Capacity building

The RMR sub-group will monitor progress of the implementation of the Horizon 2020 initiative, particularly through appropriate information sharing systems easily accessible to all Mediterranean partners, in cooperation with all partner organizations.	The PR sub-group will support the identification, prioritisation and implementation of the most significant pollution reduction projects tackling major pollution sources, focusing mainly on Industrial emissions, Municipal waste, Urban waste water.	The CB sub-group will identify key gaps and promote capacity building actions at regional, national and local levels as appropriate

	HORIZON 2020
Horizon 2020 initiative aims to tackle the top sources of Mediterranean pollution by the year 2020. The initiative is built around 4 elements: • Projects to reduce the most significant pollution sources focusing on industrial emissions, municipal waste and urban waste water, • Capacity-building measures to help neighbouring countries create national environmental administrations that are able to develop and police environmental laws. • Using the Commission's Research budget to develop and share knowledge of environmental issues relevant to the Mediterranean. • Developing indicators to monitor the success of Horizon 2020. To help implementing the initiative in all its pillars, three temporary sub-groups were initiated with the following tasks and composition.
